12 years ago the Demon Fox (Kyuubi) attacked the Leaf Village and it was the duty of the 4th Hokage to stop it. He was late to the battle for unknown reasons but riding on Gamabunta he performed the sealing jutsu that summons the Death God and the 4th placed the soul of the Kyuubi trapping it in a newborn baby named Naruto. He wanted the village to see Naruto viewed as a hero and not a monster and placed third generation shinobis (Legendary Three) to take care of Naruto. Jiraiya eventually took the role and started to train Naruto because he reminded him of the 4th.

The 4th was picked by the 3rd to succeed him instead of his own student Orochimaru. He was well respected by his strength, intelligence and potential. When the 4th was young Jiraiya, who taught him the summoning jutsu, trained him; so he could summon the Boss Toad. As Yondaime grew older he eventually had a young promising student of his own and trained him. That person was Hatake Kakashi, Naruto’s jounin sensei. The 4th was a genius that created two powerful jutsu the one he used to seal the Kyuubi, and the Rasengan. The Rasengan took him 3 years to perfect and it was an A-Rank Degree Difficulty.
